Luke Hess (DeepLabs / FXHE / Planet-e / Echocord / Supercinema) - Detroit, MI - USA

Born in 1980 in Metro Detroit and subject to the city's mid-90's warehouse parties, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance-floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. Luke's faith based music production landed him a seat with Omar S' FXHE label & Carl Craig's Planet-e label in Detroit. Hess has celebrated original productions and remix material on labels such as DeepLabs, FXHE, Planet-e, Dolly, Motech, Rekids, Echocord, Kontra-Music, Modelisme, Ornaments, Echocord Colour, & more. In 2009, Luke released his first album, "Light in the Dark" on Denmark-based record label, Echocord. "Light in the Dark" received glowing reviews and was hailed by many as one of the best deep techno albums of the year. His second artist album "Keep On" was release on CD in 2012 and on 2x12" vinyl in 2013 and received a superb score of 4.5/5 & recommended review on Resident Advisor. With over 15 years of DJ experience and many notable LIVE sets across the world, Luke is regarded as a perfectionist on stage. Hess is known to layer his sets in a very detailed, hypnotic, & soulful manner. After playing many notable venues & festivals such as Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Awakenings Festival, Berghain & Panorama Bar - Berlin, Dimensions Festival, ENTER. - Ibiza, Fabric - London, Unit - Tokyo, De School - Amsterdam, Culture Box - Copenhagen, OUTPUT - NYC, Decibel Festival - Seattle, Bassment - Hong Kong, Concrete - Paris, Dude Club - Milan, +++, he is excited to continue exploring the world stage and introducing new and old fans to his raw & deep breed of Detroit techno. Luke's continued hard work in the studio & behind the decks combined with his unyielding interest in technology and sound will no doubt stimulate the boundaries of electronic music.

Babe Roots is a project founded in Turin, Italy by Andrea Perini and Alessandro Verrina. Characterised by deep and techno dub sounds then linked onto Chain Reaction / Basic Channel, the duo evolved into a highly structured sound more influenced by Jamaican reggae / dub and UK Trip hop elements characteristic of the ’90s. Often collaborating with reggae vocalists, Babe Roots have released music on labels such as ZamZam Sounds, Echocord, Moonshine, 4Weed Music and Rohs Records, and recently signed with Vivek’s System Sound.

As said by the so missed Juno Plus: “The middle ground between US and European electronic music is where the work of Hiver exists”. Echoing melodies and haunting rhythms, Giuseppe Albrizio and Sergio Caio, have given form to Hiver back in 2012. Since then, they’ve started defining their aesthetic path: Their debut Ep “A Day”, on Vidab Records, has been followed by the highly acclaimed “Blue Aconite” Ep, released via Curle Recordings and including a Tobias. remix. Thanks to this releases, Hiver’s name started to be reckon worldwide. Clubs and festival promoters has soon started taking note of their works, as testified by their shows at Panorama bar, Dimensions Festival, ADE, Oval Space, Rio De Janeiro and a 5 shows Asia tour, just to name a few. With other 3 EPs signed on Curle, appearance on Luke Hess’s Deeplabs label and further releases on Obscura, LET and Fides, the ground is set to allow Hiver to push their sound to a further level.

La dreamachine è stata inventata nel 1959 da Brion Gysin, scrittore, viaggiatore e sperimentatore inglese.
Si tratta del primo oggetto nella storia concepito per essere guardato con gli occhi chiusi.
Un cilindro perforato che, disposto su un giradischi, utilizza la luce di una lampadina e delle piccole finestre rotanti per simulare le sensazioni provate nelle prime fasi del sonno.
La rotazione del cilindro permette infatti alla luce di lampeggiare ad una frequenza tra le 8 e le 13 pulsazioni al secondo, che corrisponde al tasso di onde alfa prodotte dal cervello umano quando quest'ultimo si trova in stato di rilassamento e dormiveglia.
Il lampeggiamento della dreamachine, alterando l'attività elettrica cerebrale, permette di avere delle vere e proprie visioni "proiettate" dietro le palpebre, che danno a chi l'utilizza l'impressione di stare sognando in maniera cosciente.
