The 1969 Club [fuzz-rock from France]
Heat, power and fury » should be the maxim to characterize The 1969 Club. Rock’n’roll lovers,
they entered into a pact with the devil a long time ago. From this spiritual father, they’ve almost
learned everything to propose at least their own substance, their first album, “AYAHUASCA”.
Taking its name from a mind-expanding Amazonian plant, « AYAHUASCA » gives you up a
kind of spell in the wilderness, half voodoo grub and half Buddist plasma.
This first album has been recorded at the Brighton Electric Studio by Mike lord (Blood Red
Shoes / Nick Cave / The Wytches). It proceeds between some pop imprecations, thinned down
with reverb and sharp rhythms. Here, everything is tense as gallows’ rope.
Talking about pop, The 1969 Club only takes the immediate pleasure and the songwriting’s evi-
dence on, throwing the rest out of the window while they’re screaming like hard nuts.
