SSDD is heavily influenced by The Stooges, The Fall, The Cramps, and The Scientists. The content of their songs range from, “being a weirdo punk [and] the way [they] view the world [to] drugs and the want to be loved.”

Each member of SSDD has previously played in other bands, which is important to the atmosphere they create onstage, Carda says, because “there’s a certain level of experience needed to create that. Or at least maintain it.” Keeping this stage presence is important because Carda finds “the most joy performing and the rest of life I just kinda stumble through.” Outside of the band, the major contributor to their musicality is “drugs.”
